【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefultomeasuretheslowcrackgrowthresistanceofmoldedplaquesofpolyethylenematerialsatacceleratedconditionssuchas80x00B0;C,2.4-MPastress,andwithasharpnotch.Thetimetofailuredependsonthefollowingtestparameters:temperature;stress;notchdepth;andspecimengeometry.Increasingtemperature,stress,andnotchdepthdecreasethetimetofailure.Thus,inreportingthetimetofailure,alltheconditionsofthetestmustbespecified.1.1Thistestmethoddeterminestheresistanceofpolyethylenematerialstoslowcrackgrowthunderconditionsspecifiedwithin.Note1ThistestmethodisknownasPENT(PennsylvaniaNotchTest)test.1.2Thetestisgenerallyperformedat80Candat2.4MPa,butmayalsobedoneattemperaturesbelow80Candwithotherstresseslowenoughtoprecludeductilefailureandtherebyeventuallyinducebrittletypeoffailure.Generally,polyethyleneswillultimatelyfailinabrittlemannerbyslowcrackgrowthat80Cifthestressisbelow2.4MPa.1.3Thetestmethodisforspecimenscutfromcompressionmoldedplaques.SeeAppendixX1forinformationrelatingtospecimensfrompipe.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
